This alleyway was extremely quiet, so quiet that you could even hear the sound of your own blood pumping around your brain. The next month flew by quickly. Jackie and Jareth spent every spare second together. They couldn't get engaged just yet, because Goblin law states that members of the goblin royal family must court on another for at least a month before they may marry. Jackie spent her alone time reading from the vast library. One day, she called Jareth to the west wing, telling him nothing more than the meeting was important.
"Jareth, we need to talk," Jackie said as Jareth walked into the room. Taking his arm, she pulled him over to a padded windowsill. They sat down, and Jareth took her hand.
"Yes honey," he said, "What's wrong?" Jackie caressed his face and lightly kissed him.
"I'm pregnant."
