The journey through the labyrinth went by swiftly. The couple ran into very little trouble. When the water creature that had attacked Jackie began to come at them chanting "Sarah, Sarah," Jareth banished them with a flick of his hand. The creatures holding on to Jackie's horse flew back, as if burned. Jackie and Jareth urged their horses to run, and they escaped the grabbing hands of the monsters.
"When I was coming through the labyrinth, those same creatures attacked me. They called me Sarah, and told me it was my fault you didn't love them anymore. Why did they say that?" Jackie asked.
"When your mother left, I was devastated. I locked my self away in my rooms and wouldn't let anyone see me. I was a mess. Any goblin who dared come through the door, I turned into a waterling, one of the creatures you just saw. I didn't want to let them see I was crying over a mortal."
The two lovers soon reached the castle of the high king, Jareth's father.
"Let me go tell the guards we're her, and them I'll be back my sweet," Jareth said, dismounting his horse. When Jareth came back, he remounted his horse. They slowly moved forward, and a group of guards on highly decorated horses joined them. They carried flags with the royal crest, a unicorn with a ribbon wrapping around its horn, the words "ut ibi esse aeternam pacem." Jareth told her that the family motto was "may there be everlasting peace." When Jareth marries, he told her, he would get his own motto.
The guards lead Jareth and Jackie into the throne room. A large throne covered in green velvet. Jackie jumped when she heard trumpets herald the kings arrival.
"Introducing the high king, his majesty, King Sapientia." Jackie bowed so low when the king entered the room that her nose touched the ground. Jareth suppressed a laugh at the sight of his love bowing to his father. The high kind never liked to be bowed to. He felt that all those who lived in his kingdom were equal to him. After all, what was he but merely a man?
"Please, darling, come off the ground." The kings voice was soft and smooth. "There is no need to bow." Jackie stood up and Jareth took her hand. King Sapientia grinned. He had never seen his son look at anyone with such desire and love. The young king had finally found the one.
